Fintech App Jobs in Germany: Who Is Hiring and in Which Roles
If you want to work on a finance app in Germany, the options are better than the headlines about fintech funding suggest. Fintech is the largest single sector on this board: the top fintech employers alone list more than 200 open roles, almost all of them in English. Data as of September 2026.
The biggest fintech employers right now
- N26 (Berlin): around 46 roles, the most engineering-heavy fintech on the list (about 18 engineering roles), plus product, marketing and operations.
- Scalable Capital (Munich): around 36 roles, strong in operations, anti-financial-crime and data.
- Raisin (Berlin): around 28 roles, from AI engineering to banking operations.
- Trade Republic (Berlin): around 27 roles, including backend engineering (yes, Haskell) and security.
- smava (Berlin): around 26 roles, many of them remote sales roles for credit specialists.
- Moss (Berlin): around 23 roles in sales, support and applied AI.
- Taxfix (Berlin): around 18 roles, with a strong engineering and data focus.
- Vivid Money (Berlin): around 13 roles, about half remote.
- SumUp (Berlin): around 10 roles, including Android and Go backend engineering.
- PAYBACK (Munich), IDnow (Munich), WebID (Berlin), Star Finanz (Hamburg) and ING Deutschland (Frankfurt): several roles each.
Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt
Berlin is the clear centre of consumer fintech: N26, Trade Republic, Raisin, Taxfix, Moss, Vivid and SumUp all hire there. Munich has Scalable Capital and a strong identity-verification scene (IDnow). Frankfurt, despite being the banking capital, has comparatively few consumer app roles. Its fintech employers are more often B2B or bank-owned.
What kind of roles fintechs hire for
Engineering is the largest group, but fintech has a distinctive second pillar: compliance and financial crime. Anti-money-laundering analysts, fraud prevention specialists, MLROs and regulatory roles make up a big share of openings, and they are a good entry point for people from banking or law. Data and AI roles are growing fast: several fintechs now advertise AI engineers and AI automation managers.
Working in English
Almost every fintech role on this list is advertised in English, and the working language at N26, Trade Republic, Raisin, Scalable and SumUp is English. German is required mainly for customer-facing roles for the German market and for some regulatory roles.
Salary expectations
Fintechs rarely publish salary ranges in Germany. They do tend to pay at the upper end of the German market for engineering, often with equity or virtual shares on top. Ask for the range early in the process. Under the EU pay transparency directive, employers will have to share it before the first interview once Germany has passed its law.
