Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer (f/m/x)

Your Mission

This is a company built for growth.

When you join exmox, you're stepping onto a global, highly competitive playing field, solving real problems in environments that push you beyond your comfort zone. We move fast, cut the noise, and focus on what actually matters, because in our industry, speed wins.

With 50M+ platform downloads, we’re rapidly scaling one of the most exciting innovations in mobile gaming: a rewarded user engagement and acquisition platform that helps players discover, and engage with games they enjoy - creating lasting value for both players and gaming studios.

As Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer (f/m/x), You’ll report to the Platform Engineering Manager in a Platform team of four, responsible for everything that runs our adtech solution, from developer experience and CI/CD to cloud infrastructure, incident response, and production reliability. Everyone on the team owns decisions and drives improvements, working proactively with developers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to build more resilient infrastructure as we go.

At exmox, we're embracing AI as part of how we work, not just what we build. We use AI tools to work smarter, cut down on repetitive tasks and spend our time where it actually moves the needle. If that mindset speaks to you, you'll fit right in.

If you're excited by complex systems, high traffic, data-driven decisions, and the chance to grow by solving challenging problems, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Own:

• Core stack: Work hands-on with AWS (multi-account, multi-region), Terraform, EKS (Kubernetes), complex GitLab CI pipelines, Helm, RDS, S3, kafka, RabbitMQ, Lambda, and Python, plus observability tools like Prometheus, Loki, Datadog, and OpenTelemetry.

• Reliability: Troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systems and apply SRE principles to drive root cause analysis, long-term fixes, and platform-wide reliability improvements.

• Backup and disaster recovery: Design and implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies for both stateless and stateful services.

• Platform design: Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and DevOps teammates to design, evolve, and maintain a scalable and secure cloud platform.

• Developer experience: Continuously improve tooling, automation, and operational workflows to reduce friction, enhance developer experience, and enable faster, safer shipping.

• Knowledge sharing: Stay current with the evolving DevOps and cloud-native ecosystem, not just to grow your own skill set, but to help elevate the team's knowledge, challenge assumptions, and introduce better ways of working.

What You Bring

• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles.

• AWS at scale: You're confident in managing AWS at scale, including IAM, networking, and security best practices, and you know how to balance cost, performance, and simplicity.

• Infrastructure as Code: You're fluent in IaC (preferably Terraform or similar) and use it to build clean, modular, and scalable infrastructure.

• Kubernetes and CI/CD: You have solid experience managing Kubernetes (we use EKS) in production, with a strong grasp of workload security and day-2 operations, and you're comfortable building modern CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitLab CI or ArgoCD, with real care for developer experience.

• Automation: You're proficient in Python, Go, or Bash for automation, tooling, and optimizing engineering workflows.

• Observability and incidents: You have hands-on experience with observability tooling, preferably Datadog in production along with Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or Loki. You apply SLIs/SLOs to guide operational decisions, stay calm during incidents, and know when to roll back or escalate.

• Communication and curiosity: You communicate clearly, write good docs, and support your decisions with reasoning. You enjoy learning, questioning the status quo, and improving the platform for everyone around you.

• AI and agentic workflows: You integrate AI tools directly into core engineering tasks rather than relying only on code suggestions leveraging them to manage incident alerts, refine infra setup, or automate operational runbooks. You grasp how to equip agents with proper context, tooling, and safe boundaries, consistently seeking new opportunities to drive efficiency.

How We Win

• Speed is the feature. Speed beats rocket science. We move fast, test fast, and multiply our pace with AI, because action creates information and small wins compound. A fast failure is a lesson we learn from, a slow one is a problem we can't afford.

• Focus on the essential. Done is better than perfect. We stay focused on what actually moves us forward and protect people's time from anything that doesn't. We're direct in how we communicate too, no rambling, no unnecessary detail.

• See it. Own it. Solve it. The first to see it is best placed to fix it. We're not a place for comfort, we're a place for doers. "Not my job" isn't in our vocabulary, if you spot something, you help make sure it gets solved.

• Respect others. Trust multiplies. Respect is non-negotiable. We disagree with ideas, never with people. Trust here is built the same way it is anywhere, through consistency, a thank you, a moment of listening, and owning your mistakes.

• Perks that help you focus on what matters. Transport subsidy, learning budget, wellness and gym, workation, bi-weekly team lunches, and more. The perks are great, but the real reason people join and stay is the challenge, the ownership, and the drive to win together.

Please note: this is not a remote only position, we offer you a flexible hybrid model here in Hamburg, Germany - working from home on Mondays & Fridays, coming to the office on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday!
